The Gareth Pugh 100 Handicap Tournament Returns

Indoor squash match with two players on a polished wooden court, featuring a lunging shot and ready stance.

Our annual Gareth Pugh 100 Handicap Tournament is back! First played in 1981, this long-standing competition gives players of all standards the chance to compete on a level playing field. The finalists will not only earn bragging rights but also see their names added in Gold Leaf to our clubhouse honours boards.

How it works

  • Each player is given a starting score based on their playing standard.

  • Matches are played to 100 points, with the first player to reach 100 progressing to the next round.

  • Matches are scheduled to fit within a 45-minute court session, including warm-up and up to two breaks (taken at the discretion of the higher-handicap player).

Key dates

  • Entry deadline: Wednesday 8th October at 18:00 (draw made that evening).

  • 1st round: To be completed by 1st November.

  • 2nd round: To be completed by 14th November.

  • Final: Saturday 6th December at 17:30.

Entry is free – so make sure you don’t miss out on one of the club’s favourite traditions.
