Coolhurst members are invited to a special evening with Roger Taylor MBE, one of Britain’s most successful tennis players, as he visits the club to talk about his autobiography, The Man Who Saved Wimbledon.

Joined by sports broadcaster and co-author Marcus Buckland, Roger will share stories from his remarkable career, including famous on-court victories, life on the professional tour, a notorious locker-room punch-up, and even an audition for James Bond.

This promises to be an entertaining and insightful evening for tennis fans of all ages, with the chance to hear first-hand stories from one of the game’s greats.

About the speakers

Roger Taylor reached a career-high ATP ranking of World No.11 and was Britain’s No.1 player. A Wimbledon semi-finalist and two-time US Open Doubles champion, he reached the semi-finals or quarter-finals of every Grand Slam and later went on to captain Great Britain’s Davis Cup team. During his career, he competed against legends including Rod Laver, Ilie Năstase and Björn Borg.

Marcus Buckland is a well-known sports presenter, previously at Sky Sports and now a familiar face on Amazon Prime’s ATP and WTA tennis coverage, as well as football, cricket and rugby broadcasting.
